Formerly Island Paradise, renamed for its history
The cottage has been welcoming guests since April 2019, when it opened as Island Paradise. In time it took the name it had always half-carried: a sea shanty — a working song, and a shack by the sea. It began life as a fisherman's shack, and the bones of it are unchanged.
Since then it has hosted more than two hundred stays and holds Superhost status with a 4.81 star rating — a number we mention once and then get on with the important business of lighting the fire.

Sophie
Sophie is a professional oil painter who lives and works on Pittwater. Most of what hangs on the shanty's walls came out of her studio, and most of what's in the paintings is visible from the deck: tide lines, moored hulls, the flat grey-green of the water before weather.

Scotland Island is water-access-only. Drive to Church Point (about 45 minutes from the CBD), park, and take the ferry or a water taxi across — ten minutes on the water, and the deepwater jetty is at the bottom of the garden.
